I’ll make this week’s Marketing Musing stupidly simple for you.
You, your brand, your significant other and your dog (or cat – no judgement) need to join Snapchat. Hell, you need to go to your boss today and convince him/her to join the network.
Now. Ahora. Jetzt. איצט. Adesso.
Not tomorrow, not on the weekend, now.
Yes, I know I have only been on the platform myself for a few weeks but it has become painfully obvious how ridiculous I was not to join much, much earlier.
Why You Should Join Snapchat Today
Snapchat is not just for teenagers even though it overtook Instagram as the most popular social network among U.S. teens (ages 14 to 19). It is new-ish and different then the social media platforms we are used to but it is also where so much attention is at the moment and at the end of the day aren’t we just Attention Chasers?
“How much attention?” I hear you ask. Well, video traffic on the app has caught up to Facebook’s staggering 10 billion daily views.
Creating content on the platform is easy but creating a community and success is tricky and takes time which is why you need to start now. You are already behind.
People doubt anything that is new or scares them and in new technologies it is even more so. The radio, television, smartphone, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, all of it was laughed at at one point because the majority of people didn’t understand it. Now EVERYONE understands it.
We are not quite at that point with Snapchat but we are getting bloody close. It’s a tipping point, and those of us ahead of the curve will reap the benefits.
